Growing up in Gippsland, a career in Audiology was not something I had even heard of until I was already completing my undergraduate degree. I had been a musician for a number of years when it became apparent a sound-based career, where I was also able to help people, was something I was searching for. I took the plunge into a Masters Degree in Audiology at The University of Melbourne and have never looked back, loving every moment.
Being an Audiologist has helped me reconnect people as I see how much hearing loss can hinder someone’s life and those around them. I want people to gain the full colour and texture back in their hearing, not just “speech”, as there is so much more to communication and the hearing world. For me, I have never become tired of audiology as a career. I am inspired every day to be helping people of all ages, not only with their hearing but to help put a smile on their face or to simply listen when they really need it.
I have been working in audiology clinics at various sites across Melbourne for over 16 years, but am proud to now be working within the Merri-bek community where I have been a resident for over 15 years. I bring an approachable and honest nature into the clinic with an emphasis on client centred care.
When I’m not in the clinic I can usually be found in my garden or spending time with my two young daughters.
